Meet Our Doctors

Matthew Sievers, DDS, MS

Growing up in Duluth, Minnesota, with parents in medical and dental professions, Dr. Sievers knew he wanted his career to be focused on helping others feel great about themselves. As a high schooler, he loved the teamwork and competition that came with being on the swim team so much that he went on to swim in college. This teamwork mentality stuck with him and now plays a significant role in his everyday life as he is honored to be leading a terrific team at Embrace Orthodontics.

Education & Experience

Dr. Sievers graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, earning his Bachelor of Science in biology with minors in chemistry and psychology. Following his undergraduate work, he attended dental school at the University of Minnesota. During dental school, Dr. Sievers visited the orthodontic department for his own treatment and was amazed at what orthodontists could do to help people’s confidence and morale. Combining his desire to help people with his passion for working with a team and his love for a challenge, he knew that orthodontics was the path for him. Dr. Sievers went on to complete his orthodontic residency at the University of Minnesota.

During his time at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Sievers met his wife, Ashley, at church and offered to lend her his histology textbook for her upcoming class. The rest is history, and they now have three children (four if you count Dublin, their goldendoodle fur baby). The Sievers family loves spending their free time rock climbing, skiing, exploring the outdoors and jamming together to their favorite tunes (but we won’t talk about Bruno).

Allison Van Vooren, DDS, MS

When Dr. Allison Van Vooren was a child, she dreamed of being a dentist, just like her grandpa. As she went through orthodontic treatment as a teenager, her dream took on a slightly new direction. She decided to become an orthodontist to help change lives by changing smiles, just like her orthodontist had done for her.

Education & Experience

Dr. Van Vooren graduated from Marquette University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Mathematics, followed by her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. While attending college at Marquette, she met her husband, Andrew, through mutual friends. Dr. Van Vooren and Andrew moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where she completed her orthodontic residency and masters of science in oral biology. Katherine Darling, DDS, MS

Dr. Darling grew up in Billings, Montana and developed a love of science from a young age through her biologist parents. In high school and college, she discovered a love for helping people through healthcare during her time as a Certified Nursing Assistant. As a dental student and as a general dentist in the Army, Dr. Darling spent time observing and interacting with orthodontists and knew she wanted to become an orthodontist as she watched patients’ self-confidence transform along with their smiles. She feels so honored and blessed to have the opportunity to create beautiful smiles and change lives as part of such a great orthodontic team.
