Your Cambridge Orthodontist
Dr. Matthew Sievers graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, earning his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology.
Following undergraduate work, he went on to dental school at the University of Minnesota.
During dental school, Dr. Sievers visited the orthodontic department as a patient and was amazed at what orthodontists were able to do to help patients smile with confidence.
Combining this with his passion for working with a team and his love of a new challenge, he knew that orthodontics was the path for him.
When Dr. Allison Van Vooren was a child, she dreamed of being a dentist, just like her grandpa. As she went through orthodontic treatment as a teenager, her dream changed slightly. She decided to become an orthodontist to help change smiles, just like hers was changed.
Dr. Van Vooren graduated from Marquette University, earning first her Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Mathematics and followed by her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
It was during college at Marquette that she met her husband, Andrew, through mutual friends. Dr. Van Vooren’s loving husband followed her to Lincoln, NE where she completed her orthodontic residency and a Masters of Science degree in Oral Biology. Following her residency, Dr. Van Vooren became a board-certified orthodontist.
Traditional braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have. They're made out of metal or ceramic brackets that are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. These brackets, wires, and bands work together to apply the gentle pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the positions we want them to be in if you have regular adjustments with our doctors.
Cambridge braces are an excellent choice for correcting complex tooth issues. Because they can sometimes work faster at aligning teeth and closing gaps than other treatments might, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced. Braces don't need some of the more complex technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can, making Cambridge braces a cost-effective orthodontic option.
Invisalign is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists and is the top alternative to traditional braces. Instead of brackets and bands, Cambridge Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth.
Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and customized to fit snugly over your teeth. In order to keep your teeth moving in the direction you want them to, you'll generally need to switch your invisible trays out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. The Invisalign system can only work if the recommended guidelines are followed exactly! Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment. If patients neglect to wear the aligners as directed, it can impede the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.
Invisalign is at its most efficient when correcting many of the most common orthodontic issues. For some complex cases, Invisalign may not be a good option. A free consultation with Embrace Orthodontics will allow us to determine your Invisalign eligibility.
